She was born in Marlboro County, a daughter of the late John Levi and Nancy Hayes Meggs. She was a former 38- year employee of the Marion County Treasurer's Office and a member of the Eastern Star. He was owner of Charles Waters Interior Design, a member of the Florence Rotary Club, a Korean War veteran and a graduate of the University of Georgia and the New York School of Interior Design. He was an employee of The State newspaper for 20 years and owner-operator of Davis Printing which he founded in 1946. He was also affiliated with Camden Recycle Center and Camden Recycle Trucking Co. Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Williamsburg County Senior Citizens Organization and recipient of the Outstanding Senior Citizen award of Williamsburg Council on Aging in May 1978.
