GREER — Southwest Airlines is starting two new direct flights at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport this week.
On June 4, the airline will begin service between the Upstate and the Music City, a route Southwest hasn't flown this route since 2014.
The company's decision to bring the flight back to GSP follows Southwest's announcement that it will start weekend-only service between Greenville and the Mile High City on June 8.
With this new route to Nashville and Denver, the airline will offer a total of five nonstop service destinations including flights to Atlanta, Baltimore and Houston-Hobby.

Southwest's flights to Nashville will also serve as a connecting airport to popular cities in California, including Los Angeles, Long Beach and Sacramento.
These flights will offer GSP passengers "even more options for their travel needs," airport CEO Dave Edwards said in a press release.
Direct flights from Greenville to Denver and Nashville are also currently offered by United Airlines.
United Airlines announced last month its intention to resurrect its direct flights from GSP to Washington-Dulles International Airport in September 2024.
The flight was abandoned by the airline in 2022 as a result of the global pandemic. Its return will provide a "critical link to our nation's capitol" and a "valuable access point for international travelers," Edwards said.
